KESH Academy’s specialisms of Science and Performing Arts are areas in which we focus on being leaders – attracting accolades, awards and further resources.

Artsmark Gold AwardPerforming Arts

This is our sixth year as a specialist arts college. Throughout this period we have held Artsmark Gold - the highest award for school arts provision available for schools in the UK.

  • Excellence in drama, music and dance.
  • High quality teaching - cross curricular Advanced Skills teacher support in all subjects.
  • All students are entitled to subsidised peripatetic music lessons - ranging from dhol drums to rock band.
  • We put on high quality productions throughout the year - students have the opportunity to take part in exhibitions of art work, musical and dramatic performances on a half termly basis.
  • Artsmark Gold status - this award recognises schools with outstanding commitment and a high level of provision in the Arts.
  • Extra curricular provision - links to arts activities across the city and nationally.
  • Strong links with the Birmingham Music Services.
  • Opportunities to work alongside arts professionals such as the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
  • Great learning spaces - custom built art, dance and recording studios as well as teaching and performance spaces.

Our specialist arts status has "widened the opportunities for students to take part in reviews and musical theatre productions. Students’ confidence and self esteem have been enhanced by their participation in such events". (Ofsted).
