Why study Retail?

The Retail qualification is designed to give you a basic grounding to enable an understanding of the retail industry and its customs and practices. Retail is an exciting and diverse sector with a vast range of career opportunities spanning different areas of the retail sector and covering a wide range of the functional operations in the sector.

You will have the opportunity to build this knowledge base with units that link directly to the employment you may wish to enter, such as fashion retailing. You will also benefit from the career planning unit, which encourages you to think about your future, and the direction you wish to take. You will learn about various elements of retail ranging from customer service and merchandising to transportation and stock control. We listen to our students and you will have a chance to reflect on assignments with your teacher and even help with the ideas that inspired those assignments. We use a range of strategies on this course and some of the tasks are practical. You will develop more confidence in presenting information and also have opportunities to assess your own and your peers work.

BTEC BusinessRetail can open the door to a wide range of careers and further education courses. You could choose to study something that you already know about in more depth, or you could choose something which complements your current knowledge.
