What is the course about?
This specification is designed to encourage you to develop a broad view of design and technology, develop your capacity to design and make textile products, appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing.
Do you like fashion, fabrics, and textiles? Do you you think you have the motivation and ability to design and make the next fashion trend for a major high street shop? Yes, then Product Design Textiles is the right course for you. While working in both 2D and 3D, you will have the opportunity to use the latest computer packages while still developing your practical skills. You will work with a variety of fabrics and components used in the design and making of textile products. You will also gain an understanding of industrial and commercial practices within the area of design and manufacture.
Product Design Textiles also considers the broader issues for the designer, including the environmental sustainability of products and consumer safety.

AS Unit 1: (TEXT 1: Exam) Materials, Components and Application.
AS Unit 2: (TEXT 2) Learning Through Designing and Making.
A2 Unit 3: (TEXT 3: Exam) Design and Manufacture.
A2 Unit 4: (TEXT 4) Design and Making Practice.
