This is a Vocational Qualification designed to provide a progression route to higher education or further training for employment in the Performing Arts Industry. The course aims to encourage candidates to develop broad skills, knowledge and understanding of the Performing Arts sector through teacher led workshops, group performance projects and independent study.
What is this course about?
This course enables you to experience the different aspects of the Performing Arts’ world. You will explore your own skills and the employment roles available in the industry. You will form a theatre company and work to produce a range of exciting theatrical events for a range of audiences. You will also have an opportunity to experience a range of live theatre through visits which support your learning.
Assessment
In the first year of the course you will study the following units of work:
- Unit 1 Developing Skills for Performance
- Unit 2 Planning for a Creative Event
- Unit 3 Performing to a Commission
In the second year of the course you will study:
- Unit 4 Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts
- Unit 5 Advanced Performance Practice
- Unit 7 Production Delivery
What else do I need to know?
To be successful you need to be able to work collaboratively and contribute to the processes of Creating and Performing. You will need to be able to work to performance schedules and demonstrate a variety of skills to help organise and promote your work to an audience. You will be taught by a range of specialist staff within the Performing Arts Faculty and enjoy working in a range of teaching spaces, like our studio theatre, purpose built dance studio and recording suite
