What is the course about?
This course has been developed to recognise learners’ skills, knowledge and understanding of Information and Communication Technology functions, environments and operations. The learners carry out a range of tasks that have been designed to recognise their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace. The course is made up of 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units.
The 4 mandatory units studied are:
- Unit 1: Digital Business Communication.
- Unit 2: Collaborative Working.
- Unit 3: Problem Solving.
- Unit 4: Creating a Digital Showcase.
How will I be assessed?
All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There are no timetabled exams for this qualification; candidates may complete units at a time that suits the centre. The full award and units from this qualification are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. This is equivalent to 1 A Level at A, C or E.
What do students say?
This course offers students a wide range of units that will help them in everyday life. It runs at a swift pace and the resources available ensure the students are capable of completing the course.
The course tests your knowledge of ICT from previous years and introduces you to new concepts. The teachers are also very helpful in explaining the work.
The course extends the knowledge of ICT skills that we have acquired in the past BTEC course. Each lesson introduces something new and gives a better advantage for more challenging tasks.
What else do I need to know?
As well as eight lessons a fortnight, you will also have email access to your teachers for out of hour support. Each student will be able to log on to a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) enabling you to continue studying outside lesson time. The VLE contains the files that you will need to help support and guide you through the course.
