What is the course about?

If you enjoy analysing texts from different periods in depth and questioning great authors skill, then this is the course for you. You will build upon GCSE reading and analysing skills; going further with more depth. If you have original ideas and want the opportunity to express them, this course will actively nurture your natural skills. Writing creatively is also an option. This course is easily transferable and will open doors into any profession or Higher Education course.

How will I be assessed?

AS – Exam (2hrs Closed Text) – Poetry and Prose 1800-1945 (Wordsworth and The Great Gatsby)
AS – Coursework – Post 1900 Literature, Dystopian Worlds (1984 and The Cut)
A2 – Exam (2hrs Closed Text) – Drama and Poetry pre-1800 (Othello and John Donne)
A2 – Coursework – Texts in Time

What else do I need to know?

The course is taught by two teachers, offering a variety of teaching and learning styles. Students are expected to read widely, beyond the texts studied in class.
