Welcome to the Sixth Form at KESH Academy.
I have recently had the opportunity to engage with a great deal more Year 11 students and have been pleased to note that most are already thinking ahead to sixth form. For many this is a time of trepidation and excitement, about the ending of one educational journey and the beginning of another. At King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy we aim to support you through this journey.
We warmly welcome students who join us from other schools and those that are already at our Academy. We have therefore seen our popularity continue to grow and have firmly established ourselves as the Sixth Form of choice in the local area. A key reason for this is our ambition for you to be supported to achieve your very best. The outcome of this support is demonstrated in our students’ results and I am once again pleased to report our best academic performance yet. These students have worked tirelessly and it has been a privilege to have supported them through their time in Sixth Form.
Further testament to our student’s success can be seen in the high number who have progressed to a range of universities both locally and around the country. This year students have continued the trend of gaining places at Russell Groups universities such as the University of Birmingham, the University of Liverpool, University of Newcastle and the University of Warwick. However we have also seen a number of students secure places in quality apprenticeships, such as in ICT and Childcare.
To continue to support our students, there have been continued investments in the Sixth Form. This includes a dedicated study area with a suite of high performing computers and a common room. We have also continued a tailored programme of Personal Development; this provides students with access to guest speakers from a range of institutions and the knowledge needed to be successful beyond academia.
However more than this, it is the culture of our Sixth Form that drives all that we do. We aim for a supportive learning community which permeates all aspects of Sixth Form life. It is the single thread that binds us together. It is visible in the classrooms, lessons, opportunities and support we offer. Our teachers work tirelessly to facilitate your learning and we recognise you have a unique set of needs. If you want to be part of this culture and want to work hard, then I adamantly recommend our wonderful Sixth Form to you.
