Student council gets political

On Friday 12th March 2010, members of the Student Council met with the Birmingham Yardley Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming. We prepared questions that we would ask him. The questions we asked were based on our school becoming an Academy, what democracy means to him and other questions based on politics and about the upcoming general election. Mr Hemming also asked us if we had anything we wanted to know about and most of us had some concerns we wanted to raise. I raised a point about local buses and Mr Hemming took this point seriously and also felt the same way. Other members of the Student Council wanted to know what he thought about topics such as unemployment and crime. Overall, we enjoyed our time meeting our local MP and we were happy with the way he answered our questions.
