Why study this subject?

You will learn and demonstrate skills and understanding with a range of software applications. You will demonstrate to employers or people in further education that you can properly use computers for a range of useful tasks.

What will I learn?

This is a practical, work-related course. Students will learn by completing units of work that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. During the course, students will:

  • Look at and use different types of software.
  • Produce various projects.
  • Learn how to use computers to handle data.
  • Learn to work independently and in an organised manner.
  • Explore the use of hardware and its relationship with software.
  • Develop and publish a website.
