Welcome to King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy. KESH is an oversubscribed 11-18 academy serving a vibrant and diverse community. As part of King Edward VI Multi-Academy Trust, our vision is to enable students to reach the highest personal and academic standards.
Our state of the art facilities and broad curriculum provide a fantastic environment in which to learn. We encourage students to be aspirational, believe in themselves and work hard, and our skilled staff provide excellent academic and pastoral support. At KESH we celebrate success through rewards assemblies, the House system and whole academy celebrations. Academy attendance is above national average demonstrating that students enjoy coming to school and feel part of our community.
Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities and events beyond the classroom including clubs, sporting fixtures, music, trips and visits, and our ethos, built around tolerance, respect, and resilience ensures students are well equipped to thrive, both on their journey through school and in the world beyond.
Last year, the furthest student admitted was 1.6 km away (straight line measurement).
King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy is committed to developing responsible, aspirational, independent, happy and well-rounded young people with the self-belief to reach their goals. Our work will be underpinned by our core values and driven by our unequivocal belief in equality and tolerance. We will secure this through inspirational and enthusiastic teaching, the provision of a broad, challenging curriculum and excellent support and care. We want to ensure our young people fulfil and exceed their potential, be proud of who they are, be committed to lifelong learning and leave well-equipped to navigate their way through the challenges of the 21st Century; positively contributing to society both economically and socially.
Staff at KESH Academy are passionate about education, learning and the wellbeing of students. Each year group has a Head of Year, as well as a Pastoral Manager. The Head of Year for Year 7 is Miss Lanham. The Pastoral Manager is Mr Denver. Mr Denver also deals with the transition from Year 6 into Year 7. Both Miss Lanham and Mr Denver, as well as other key staff, led by Principal Ms Elcocks, are committed to making sure parents and students have all the support and information they need for when they start at KESH and throughout their time here.
We were inspected by Ofsted in 2017 and maintained our "Good" rating. Please find the link to the report below.
