The annual Christmas Music concert was held at the Academy on 17th December. The performances were wonderful and a big thanks to all the students who helped out with setting up, not forgetting Miss Bywater, Mr Dunphy and Mr Organ.

On Monday 11th October a small group of dedicated and talented Y8 and Y9 students performed a 30 minute version of THE TEMPEST at the Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham City Centre as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Superbly cast, organised and directed by Mrs Jessett, the group were a real credit to our Academy and received very positive praise from the festival organisers and audience.

It was a great production, with so much attention to detail, teamwork and raw talent. The use of make-up and costumes helped place the characters in the right worlds and make the story clear and accessible to the audience.

Staff and students have been getting used to new surroundings in 2013 - a brand new building! We are very proud to be in our new building which we hope will last us as long if not longer than the last building. Amazing facilities throughout the school will make this a great place to learn for students.

On Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st March 2011 KESH Academy performed the musical Oliver! The cast included students of all ages, ranging from year 7 all the way up to year 13. The students had worked hard over many months rehearsing with the Performing Arts faculty three nights a week and even came in on a Saturday for a full dress rehearsal! The students worked fantastically well as a team, supporting each other throughout the process by learning lines together and even singing along with the songs from the wings. The performance told the story of a young boy from a workhouse called Oliver who is sold to a funeral director after he has had the audacity to ask Mr Bumble, the Beadle of the workhouse, for more gruel. Oliver escapes and goes to London where he meets Jack Dawkins, otherwise known as the Artful Dodger, who introduces him to an eccentric old man called Fagin who looks after a troop of pick pockets.

Congratulations to our Year 12 and Year 13 Performing Arts students who created and performed the pantomime ALADDIN. Year 8 students performed as the ‘Panto Babes’ and there was plenty of audience participation, songs, dances and comedy gags for young and old. Here are some pictures of the cast.
