We had our first Year 7 football house competition and it was a huge success. We had an incredible 70 students turn up after school! 30 girls and 40 boys. It was great to see so many students excited and eager to represent their form and house. It was a great start to the year as it was the first house competition and it was a huge success. We hope to push many more opportunities for our students moving forward. Thanks to all staff for your support with this event.
Special thanks to staff for coming down and cheering their form on, the students were truly grateful for your time and support. After calculating the overall scores, here are the results for the house winners:
Works to refurbish and extend our existing dining room, reception areas and office support spaces have continued throughout the summer holiday period.
Phase 2 of the project which includes the refurbished dining room space and reception area will be open when students return in September.
Phase 3 of the works will complete in late December 2023. Some progress photos are attached below to show the significant amount of works already undertaken.
Congratulations to the Religion, Philosophy and Ethics department who have achieved the Silver Award for the Religious Education Quality Mark. Well done on all the hard work put in to achieve this. For developing and implementing strategies that generate excellent RE and contribute to whole school improvement.
Congratulation to the KESH PE department who have been recognised for the School Games Bronze Award 2022/23! The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.
Congratulations to Mr Organ who has been recognised by Raspberry Pi for the work he has achieved in developing and embedding a computer science curriculum at KS3/4 and his efforts in championing computing nationally. Raspberry Pi have featured Mr Organ and some of our computing students in a video and blog as part of their community stories. This is a great achievement, well done!

The winner of our amazing sloth goes to Maneet who correctly guessed the name Popcorn. Well done to Maneet and thank you to all students and staff who took part in the fundraising event. Overall, £78 was raised for Birmingham’s Children Hospital.
We took a small amount of year 7’s to Nechells well-being centre where they had the opportunity to experience leadership roles that will support in improving confidence and self-esteem. Some of our students have found the transition from primary to secondary difficult, so this experience was a fantastic gateway to help support with confidence. Our year 7’s got to participate in a variety of activities that required them to socially interact with their peers, including students from other schools. In a few weeks’ time, they will deliver sports activities to primary school students. It was a great day to see students grow in confidence and learn about what makes a good leader.
The year 8 boys football team had their second game and first 11 a side game last night vs Hall Green School. Unfortunately the game didn’t go the way we want to go coming out on a 4-1 loss, on another day the result could have gone our way if we managed to take our chances.
The Year 7s kicked off their 2023 campaign with an impressive 7-0 win against Yardley in a cup/league fixture. Goals came from Lu’ay x3, Tyler x2, Cole and Jide.
